Healing through creativity and connection
Counseling and Art Therapy for kids, teens, and young adults
About Tessa
Hi! I am so happy you are here.
I am a Mental Health Counselor and Art Therapist with over 4 years of experience working with children, teens, and young adults. I believe therapy is a space where you can show up as you are, feel understood, and explore what you are experiencing at your own pace. My goal is to create a warm, safe, and supportive environment where you feel comfortable being yourself, whether you have a lot to say or aren’t quite sure where to start.
My approach to therapy is collaborative, creative, and grounded in meeting you where you are. As an Art Therapist, I love incorporating creativity into our work together. Sometimes, our feelings and experiences are difficult to put into words, and art making can offer another way to express, process, and make sense of what’s going on inside. I also use components of journaling, narrative therapy, or other creative approaches, depending on what feels right for you.
Outside of therapy, you can find me going for a run, doing a puzzle, grabbing a coffee, or soaking up a pretty sunset. I find a lot of joy in the little things and believe there is something special about slowing down and making space for the things that make life meaningful.
Treatment Modalities
Art Therapy
Sometimes, it can be hard to find the words for what we’re feeling or experiencing, and that’s where art can offer another way in. Art therapy can help us express ourselves, explore our emotions, and connect with experiences that may be difficult to put into words. Whether you want to doodle, color, or use art-making to explore deeper experiences, creativity is always an option in our work together. You don’t need to be an artist or have any previous art experience.
Narrative Therapy
Narrative therapy can be used to explore the stories we tell ourselves and how our experiences shape the way we see ourselves and the world around us. Sometimes, the stories we carry can make it hard to see our strengths or imagine things being different. In session, we might use journaling, writing prompts, or conversation to explore these stories, make sense of our experiences, and consider new perspectives.
Play Based Therapy
Play is one of the ways children naturally express themselves, explore their feelings, and make sense of the world around them. Sometimes, kids don’t have the words to explain what they’re experiencing, and play can give them another way to communicate and work through their feelings. In session, we might use toys, games, imaginative play, or creative activities to explore emotions, build confidence, and practice new skills.
